Privacy Policy
FlyGlyph (“FlyGlyph,” “we,” “us”) is an app for general-aviation pilots that turns short words and symbols into flight plans. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it's handled. It isn't legal advice.
Information you enter
You create designs (the text or symbol, its style, where it sits on the map, its size and rotation, an altitude and notes), folders of designs, aircraft profiles (name, airspeed, autopilot bank limit, wind allowance) and app settings (appearance, map layers, line and dot sizes and colors, plane icon). All of this is stored only on your device. FlyGlyph has no servers that receive or store it.
Information requested over the network
- Maps. The map comes from Apple Maps. Apple receives requests for the map area you view, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Sectional charts. When you turn on the Sectional chart layer, the app downloads chart images for the area you view from the FAA's public chart tile service. These requests describe a map area only; they contain no name, account or device identifier.
- Airspace data. The app checks designs against FAA airspace data stored on your device. When it opens (and at most twice a day while it stays open), it asks flyglyph.app whether newer FAA data is out, and downloads it only if you choose to. These requests are the same for everyone: they contain no design, location, name, account or device identifier. Like any website, our web host records the requesting IP address in its server logs.
- Purchases. The free trial, the $3.99 unlock, restoring purchases and redeeming offer codes are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details or Apple ID.
Location
FlyGlyph works without your location. If you allow location access, it's used on your device to start new designs where you are and to show your position on the map. It isn't sent to us or stored by us.
Files you export
Flight plans (.fpl, .gpx, .kml, .csv) and backups you export go only where you send them, such as an EFB, Files, AirDrop or email. We don't receive copies.
Analytics and advertising
FlyGlyph contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking, and doesn't sell or share personal information. If you've chosen to share analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us aggregate, anonymous crash and usage statistics; Apple's privacy policy covers that data, and it isn't tied to your identity.
Children
FlyGlyph is made for pilots and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Keeping and deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device, you control it. Delete designs and folders in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. Backup files you exported are yours to keep or delete.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes how it handles information, for example by adding optional iCloud sync to your own private iCloud, we'll update this page and the “Effective” date above.

Fly safe. FlyGlyph is a planning and creative tool, not a navigation source. Before every flight, check airspace, TFRs, NOTAMs, terrain and fuel with official sources (14 CFR 91.103). The pilot in command is responsible for the safe conduct of the flight.
